Our holidays began with a quick trip to Nashville which you can read about below. We got back on Saturday night and then got ready to do Christmas with my family on Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve Day we went to my parents house to open gifts with them. The boys got Remote control Lightning Mcqueen and Tow Mater from the movie Cars along with sleeping bags, books movies etc. They had a ball with their cars and have been playing with them ever since. Nathaniel got a play gym for the floor and he especially loved the mirror on it where he could coo at himself!
Christmas Eve night my family came over for our big dinner and the cousins all exchanged gifts. It was hectic but fun. My parents got a beautiful quilt with pics of each of our families and each grandchild. It was neat to see them open such a special gift. We also got all of the grandkids pic made together for them.
After my family left, Santa dropped by (pics below in next post)for a quick visit to give the boys their Christmas Eve gift. Aubrey got a Disney Heroes train (they are playing with it above), Eli got Culdee and the Apple cart (another one of the Thomas engines), and Nathaniel got some rattles and teethers. They all enjoyed seeing Santa again and made sure to tell him that we had left reindeer food out front for his sleigh team.
Christmas morning the boys got up in their train PJs and came down to see what Santa had brought. They had a new video game system (V-smile), a giant RR crossing bank that lights up when you add coins, a Thomas aqua doodle, several movies and board games and the list goes on! They gave Nathaniel his special doggie they had made for him at Build-a bear. They named him Fred and he is in the picture below with Nathaniel. They also got a Pooh & Tigger waffle iron so we ate waffles for our Christmas breakfast.
After we played for awhile we headed to Grandma & Grandpa's for Christmas day dinner with Brent's family. The boys all wore their Mickey vests and turtle necks and they looked so cute. We all ate together and then we all opened gifts together. Aubrey got some video games and a rocket to shoot off, Eli got a new shopping cart (the old one broke after much play!) and some cars, and Nathaniel got some gift cards and a high chair seat.
Overall the boys had a fantastic Christmas full of fun. We have tried to remind them that Jesus is the real reason for the season. We had a wonderful time together as a family and we are so thankful that God has given us such a great family and that we all live close. I cannot imagine some of the soldiers families and how they had to go through the holidays not seeing their spouses/parents. We should all keep the troops in our prayers! I have droned on enough. Have a Happy New Year!!
