Well as most of you know we have been trying for over a year now to find a 2nd dog that will be good with our boys and our Pug Jasmine. The first dog we tried last Christmas was Sophie. She was a Boston Terrier pup who was wild and proceeded to knock our kids over and tear up everything in sight. After about a month of dog stress we sent her back to the rescue and decided to try a dog that was little older. We then got Janie, a 4 year old Boston that was house trained etc. We had her for almost 6 months and overall she was a good dog. She was aggressive with our Pug and they fought some but we were dealing with that. However, when she bit Eli's face and he had to have stitches we decided she had to go back to the rescue as well. Our boys (even Eli) were sad to see her go and have been begging for another dog since then. Our vet and many friends recommended a lab or retriever since they are known to be good with kids. Since we had a new baby coming I decided a pup was out of the question but if we could find an older lab or retriever in need of a home that was housebroken etc. we would give it a try. Enter Jake. We found him online at a Christian Rescue in the Nashville area called Proverbs 12:10 Animal Rescue. He is a 4o lb., 1 year old Golden ret/ Husky mix (Notice he has one blue eye and one brown). He is housebroken, had all shots and is nuetered, and had been in a foster home with a 2 year old so we knew he was good with little guys. Long story short, we drove last weekend to Huntsville and met a lady who had brought him from Nashville. On the way home we could tell right away that he liked kids. He squeezed in between Aubrey and Eli's car seats so they both could pet him. So far he has been a great dog. He is calm most of the time, loves to be in your lap (he thinks he is 10 lbs.) and follows the boys all over the house. He even gets along great with our Pug. He does like to chew paper so we are working on that but we are hoping "the 3rd time is a charm"!
