It's Official!! My sweet wonderful hubby is now the Principal of Calera Middle School. He was voted in by the Board (my Dad had to obstain) on Thursday night and begins his new contract on February 1st. He had to make a short acceptance speech and said some really sweet things about me supporting him etc. It made me feel very special and of course all of the ladies oohed and ahhhhed! I am so proud of him and all he has accomplished at Calera Middle/High as Asst. Principal. He is truly an advocate for teachers and students and does a lot to keep morale up at his school. For those of you who do not know, Calera has been a Middle/High combo school for a long time. They are currently building a new High school so as of June, the 2 schools will split. There are some interesting challenges ahead though. Due to overcrowding, they are moving the 7th-12th grades to the new school and bringing the 4th-5th grades up to the Middle School. Brent will actually have 4-6th grade for about 2 years. The long term plan is to build an intermediate school and move the
4th & 5th to it and at that time move the 7th & 8th back down to the Middle School. Meanwhile it is going to be exciting and challenging working with an age group where he does not have much experience, but I know he will rise to the challenge. I am so proud to have a husband who is not only a terrific Christian Dad and Husband but also a hard worker who puts his all into his job as well. I love you honey!
